This is an ongoing debate, and a simple google search can provide you with the facts. But here are a points to consider:
- Research suggests that reusable sanitary products have a lower lifecycle impact than disposables (3.75 million disposable nappies are used each day in Australia and New Zealand, with each taking one cup of crude oil to make | disposable nappies estimated to take up to 150 years to break down in landfill)*
- The consumer has a greater sense of control in regards to what materials they are exposed to when choosing cloth (Research overseas has shown that disposable nappies can contain a range of chemicals, some of which may even present a risk to human health)*
- Reusables support self sufficiency in times of product scarcity
